I do get frustrated with the correction quality sometimes due to artifacts, but the pros I think outway the cons. Since I have never tried any other pitch/formant sequencer editing, I can't compare, but I think Reason's is underrated and more than adequate, for me at least. Also, if Reason's sequencer pitch editing was going to use Antares technology, that would have been cool.įor these reasons I'm not interested. I thought it was going to be like a Neptune 2 but with Antares algorithm with even more controls for shaping the sound. I was excited, until I saw that it has no formant shift, pitch step shift, vocal synth. Seeing as REs can be used in other DAWs with the rack plugin, you can't expect it to be cheaper than its VST equivalent. Sometimes I even use them together with Waves tune catching most notes and Melodyne to fine tune any notes that are sliding in the wrong direction.įor those complaining about price, It's the same price as Auto tune Access which has the same feature set (minus the CV i/o).

It's a time saver over manual correction. I have Melodyne but I still use Waves tune Real time for most pitch correction. Reason Studios pursuing Antares would definitely make sense in this case. Reason 11.4 is going to feature timeline plugins, and Autotune Reason users will be able to use the RE to adjust pitch in the timeline. Even with Autotune's gold-standard algorithms, I don't really see the draw here when it's up against graphical editing inside Reason's timeline. Same here Antares was basically the last name I would have expected to see show up in the RE shop, especially given Reason's built-in pitch correction.

RS doing the promo vid makes me wonder if they Perhaps pursued Antares to license the code Didn’t think we’d see another RE from a big developer. guess that’s not really licensing though. the only one I can think of is Quad Note Generator, which I think Lectric Panda developed, but is a “Reason Studios”-branded device. the Line 6 and Softube amps didn’t/don’t have any RS branding on them that I can recall. but now that I think about it, I don’t think that’s the case. for some reason I was thinking that in past licensing, they’ve branded stuff as Propellerhead/Reason Studios alongside whatever brand they’re licensing. *sort of correction: they shared RS’ Facebook post. As an example, BFD Jazz and Funk refill in the shop was created by Nucleus Soundlab with samples licensed from FXpansion. RS hasn't done video for any other RE that they weren't involved in. Antares doesn't seem to be talking about it at all, neither is it mentioned on their website. Seeing as RS already has a system in place for RE revenue sharing, the terms are pretty simple. That's why I'm curious if it might be licensed. that’s why it’s kind of perplexing to me. I don’t think they licensed it though-it’s still only branded Antares (from what I recall).
